Electronics/Control Systems Engineer, Hereford
We are looking for an electronics and control systems design engineer to develop prototype process systems through scale up and demonstration stages to pre-production. This is an extremely hands-on job, with a broad remit and a high degree of autonomy.
This is a job for a multi-skilled hands-on graduate who relishes taking responsibility for delivering a complete system from scratch. You will be applying novel techniques prototyped by our university research partners to solve critical technical problems in the clean energy field within the areas of chemical process engineering, emissions control and CHP. You will design and implement the control systems for an industrial demonstrator, build and commission the system, then run evaluation tests. The work is therefore highly varied as are the required skills.
Requirements:
Minimum 2:1 degree in Electronics or Control Systems.
- A solid engineering grounding with the thirst and ability to learn new skills, combined with a strong focus on quality and an attention to detail.
- Degree qualified in electronic engineering or instrumentation/control systems, and demonstrable practical experience of electronics.
- The ability to work closely with research partners to create experimental designs, specify and source components, manage subcontract and supplier deliverables, and assemble and commission complete systems.
- A working knowledge of process control and instrumentation, and related electronics.
- The ability to design and carry out an experimental program, interpret and report results.
- Excellent IT skills with exposure to system design software/CAD and programming experience.
The ideal candidate will need to be able to work well under pressure and use their own initiative. They will like to get their hands dirty on the job, as well as step back and design the whole process. Creative, dynamic and driven by results, they will thrive on achieving targets by continuously striving to meet and exceed their own objectives. Self-motivated and enthusiastic, they will be able to work independently but with good communication skills to interact with other professional team members. The candidate will have an enquiring mind and strong desire to broaden their skills and knowledge.
